Thank You to Truck Drivers in Honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

September 13th, 2016 by

Sunday, September 11 kicked off National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. At SHIPMYNT, we understand the important role that truck drivers play in the supply chain. The global economy would come to a standstill without the hard work of drayage and over-the-road truckers. As transportation associations across the US celebrate truck drivers this week, we’re sending out our own special thanks.

To the 3.5 million truck drivers who transport cargo throughout the country:

Thank you for the work you do every day. You are responsible for safely and expeditiously driving some of the largest vehicles on the roads. Without you, the public wouldn’t have convenient access to life-saving medications, nutritious food, and other daily essentials.

You bring supplies to some of the most remote locations in the nation, and you make a difference in peoples’ lives. Your job isn’t an easy one. Through all weather conditions, road conditions, and times of day, you continue to drive. You may leave your family for weeks at a time and experience unnecessary acts of road rage on your journey. Yet you continue to get behind the wheel, to meet the expectations of your business and the trucking industry, and to support local communities everywhere.

The trucking industry also includes logistics professionals, supply chain management professionals, mechanics, and others who keep the supply chain moving forward. Everyone involved in this massive and integral industry plays an important role in the daily lives of Americans.

We thank you for your service. We hope someone smiles, gives you a hug, or shows appreciation in his or her own way this week. You deserve it.

Sincerely,

The Team at SHIPMYNT

About National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

From September 11-17, trucking associations, motor carriers, and other supply chain companies plan to host appreciation events and giveaways as a token of thanks to the men and women who transport goods via commercial truck. Truckers handle around 70% of the total freight tonnage in the US.

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) started the week with an informational keynote speech. On Tuesday, television and radio talk shows around the country will broadcast a segment featuring the ATA’s First Vice Chairman, Kevin Burch. Throughout the week, locals may also hold their own special celebrations in honor of community truckers. The official National Truck Driver Appreciation Week website features an online store, where individuals can purchase official merchandise—such as hats, t-shirts, coolers, flashlights, and cups featuring the appreciation week’s logo. Sporting the official logo shows your support for all truckers across the country.
